Want to Join us?

There’s a variety of ways to contribute to the Birdhouse! We’re looking for artists, builders, and curious folks of all kinds who would like to stay on the land.

Ways to Stay

Visitor

Short to medium-term stays for folks who want to recharge in the woods while helping out. We have one guest room in the main house and lots of space for camping, including the covered greenhouse and in the oak grove.

Creative Resident

Short-term stays for artists to focus on a specific project. We're especially excited to support land-based practices and can accommodate a wide range of media.

Steward

Long-term space on the land for someone who fits well with the project and wants to dig in. There's currently an open bedroom in the main house, and space for a self-contained tiny house or trailer for the right person.

None of those options quite fit? Reach out with what you have in mind.

What to Do During Your Stay

Work on Projects

We have so many tools, and lots of space to build! Spin some wool on the spinning wheel, carve some block prints, plant some seeds, and learn something new. There's covered outdoor space as well as indoor space for smaller projects. If you're interested in learning a specific skill, or want to tag along on whatever is happening around here, there's plenty to do in every season.

Contribute to the Birdhouse

We get up to a wide variety of projects, that change with the seasons and needs of the land. Some projects we’ve done together in the past: natural building with slipstraw and earthen plaster, using fire to control invasive species, fencing repair, sheep shearing and hoof trimming, honeybee work, establishing new garden beds, maintaining existing gardens and projects. There’s always plenty to do, and we’ll mix things up during your stay!

Relax and Explore

We're in the Applegate Valley, which has wineries, farmers markets, rivers for swimming and fishing, year-round hiking, and all kinds of other outdoor activities. On the property, we have an established veggie garden, indoor and outdoor hang out spaces, acres of meadow, an oak grove, wood-fired sauna, and room to wander.
